Mr. Gavin Thomson

Mr. Thomson's Teaching Schedule

Gavin Thomson is a writer and writing instructor with five years of teaching experience at the high school and university level.


Mr. Thomson has a BA (Honours) from McGill University, and an MFA (Fiction) from Columbia University, where he was a Felipe P. De Alba Fellow. His essays and short stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Tin House, The Walrus, Southwest Review, Maisonnueve Magazine, and an anthology of new Canadian writers, out next fall with Véhicule Press. He has worked as a Fiction Reader at The Paris Review and as an Editorial Assistant Intern at a small publishing house in Manhattan. Currently he’s at work on his first book.


Mr. Thomson is new to Wells Academy. He is looking forward to teaching Gr. 4-6 Classic Literature and Gr. 7-9 Classic Literature. His pedagogical approach is student-centered. As a writing instructor, he fosters friendly learning environments, where his students can focus on reaching their potentials as writers and as thinkers, and can feel comfortable taking risks.
