The French enrichment programs at Wells Academy are designed to help students develop strong speaking and writing skills by building on what they understand through listening and reading. The program emphasizes active communication, encouraging students to express themselves with confidence while steadily improving accuracy and fluency. Students are consistently encouraged to practice regularly at home, review class material, and independently research any new vocabulary they encounter to reinforce their learning.

For Grades 3–4, the focus is on introducing the French language in a fun and engaging way. Students are exposed to basic vocabulary, simple expressions, and everyday phrases through interactive activities, songs, and games, with the goal of sparking interest and building confidence in using the language.

In Grades 5–6, students begin to develop a stronger foundation in French. They expand their vocabulary, improve sentence structure, and practice basic reading and writing skills. Greater emphasis is placed on comprehension and communication, allowing students to form simple conversations and express their ideas more clearly.

For Grades 7–8, the program advances to more complex language use. Students work with a variety of readings and are introduced to higher-level grammatical structures and expressions. These concepts are practiced and applied weekly through speaking, writing, and comprehension activities, helping students refine their fluency and prepare for more advanced study in French.

Evaluation and Assessment: tests, quizzes, oral practice and presentations, tests will be used as formative assessment; tests, exams and oral presentations every month will be used as summative assessment.
